By now you’ve finished your Dry January and your personal training booking of six sessions may be drawing to a close. But the whole point of start-of-year health fads is to engage with good habits that will hopefully become part of your life in a longer term way. One quite easy one to maintain is starting the day with a healthy and colourful porridge breakfast. The Grain Bowl book of 90 recipes by porridge maestro Nick Williamson of pop-up business The Porridge Cafe, goes a step further with ideas for ‘porridge’ meals using grains, seeds, rice, and superfoods, that will work any time of day. Each dish includes fresh fruits, slow-cooked meats or roasted vegetables that help transform them into irresistibly colouful bowls of comfort. Like getting a cuddle from a bearded hipster underneath a rainbow (or something like that).
