New Year, New Decor

Monday may have been #BlueMonday but we’re brightening our January with decor plans. Here are five simple tricks to give your home a new look for 2017.

Update your chimney breast

Decorating a whole room can take time, and January can be a busy month for some, but don’t despair, you can instantly update your living space by updating your chimney breast colour. Here, an Elephant’s Breath living room has had complementary darker hue, Charleston Gray applied to the chimney breast.

Fantastic Frames

Who said updating your decor needed to involve a fresh lick of paint? Gather a collection of much-loved images and house them in a variety of frames to create an eye-catching photo wall. This addition will update your living space and breathe a new lease of life in to the decor, and there’s not a paint brush in sight.

Update those alcoves

Introduce some texture in to your living space and line alcoves or shelving units with wallpaper. Select a complementary wallpaper, as used below, or something a little more daring that will offer some contrast and drama.

Lighting

Adding a new lamp to a room will flood it with soft ambient light that is perfect for winter days and evenings. Add further colour by picking an eye catching design, like this Nellie table lamp by Pooky.

Cushions

Never underestimate the power of the humble cushion! Mix and match sizes, colours and textures to update your living room, and create a cosy hygge inspired corner that is ideal for dark January days.
