Spring update – paint your window frames in sunshine yellow

Stolen from the Don’t Move Improve exhibition at New London Architecture, we love this idea used throughout the aptly named Yellow House by Nimtim Architects. Their extension to the ground floor of a standard Victorian flat had to be completed on a limited budget and the strategy was to create large, flexible spaces using simple uplifting materials – cue sunshine yellow frames on all the new picture windows and roof lights. A nod to Derek Jarman’s house? Either way, one to copy if you’re trying to update your house on a budget, in an adventurous way.
