Kelley Lilien is a graphic designer and stylist who creates packaging and branding for a diverse array of clients. She is the creator of Mrs. Lilien, an aspirational brand renowned for its leading lifestyle and décor inspiration. She also authors Mrs Lilien’s Cocktail Swatchbook- a book packed full of drink inspiration perfect for any occasion and the latest in the series Mrs Lilien’s Dessert Cocktail Swatchbook which features even more delicious drinks with a twist, so you can imagine how excited we were when she decided to check in for a quick chat.
Mrs Lilien is the latest in a series of high profile collaborations with Farrow & Ball to create a City Palette; with her vibrant interpretation of the sunny West Coast being rich in bright hues all so typical of The Chromologist.
TC: How would you define your personal style?
ML: Bright, bold & vibrant with a pinch of crazy. I’m all about pairing prints, over-baubling & throwing on bold headscarves for every possible outing.

My kids room – I’m scheming up a really great plan to productively bring a third into the space. All my inspo comes from here.
What does your perfect day in Southern California look like?
A day spent poolside in Palm Springs or beach side in Coronado with the family / libation in hand.
When and where do you feel most inspired?
The above two places. Between the vintage shops, mid-century modern architecture & plethora of pool to people ratio in Palm Springs and the always beautiful, always fresh + never dull Coronado, I find my inspirational peaks completely fulfilled.

Ultimate dinner party guest list?
Liberace, Liz Taylor, Richard Simmons, my cooky next-door neighbor, my manager Reesa Lake & Don Featherstone, Jonathan & Simon, my childhood BFF & Diana Ross. It would be THE ULTIMATE.
Fail-safe signature cocktail to get any party started?
Anything with gin, fresh citrus & basil. It always does the trick.
